I gave this 4 stars because I like Duncraft and their quality but I know that cardinals wont use this or any other nesting platform. You may get 1 in a million to use it but they will most likely nest in a bush. If you mount it high enough you may be able to get a finch or maybe even a wren to use it. Cardinals and Robins prefer natural hidden nesting sites. I would use my money to buy another type of Duncraft bird house (made in USA).
