Liberty Products SQUB05 Squirrel Stopper Universal Baffle, Black Review

This item arrived quickly, and I was quite surprised when I opened it up to find it was PLASTIC! I had seen the reviews for the baffle with the pole, and after seeing the video, I bought just the baffle, as I thought I would place it much higher than what they suggested. I placed it at 6 feet (the top). It took awhile to attach. There are 3 springs, which are fairly small (probably 0.5 cm wide), which if a rambunctious squirrel came, the springs would not last. I have had it up approx. 3 months, and have not seen a squirrel on the pole. The doves like to try and sit on it, so I am sure I will have to replace the springs by fall. I am not sure how long this will last, as plastic does not like the sun. I am not sure I would buy this again. If it lasts 2 years, I will be happy. I just wish it was made of metal and had sturdier springs.

Songbird Selections 1022813, Multi-Bird Suet with Fruit & Nuts Wild Bird Food, 11.75-Ounce Review

I've tried most brands of suet, and never had any issues with them, but something is seriously wrong with Scott's offerings. The birds will not eat them. In a double-width suet cake wire basket, I can place any other brand side-by-side with Scott's. The Scott's suet will not be eaten. Doesn't matter which selection, none of them are consumbed by birds. I picked several cakes from a local store, and finally have given up and tossed them to the squirrels (which will apparently eat anything!) I'm not sure how you can go wrong mixing together fat and seeds, but Scott's has managed to do so.

I often find Garfield's and other Heath selections on sale at local stores, and on rare occasions higher priced suet such as Stokes and C&S at a reasonable discount -- all of which seem to please songbirds of the Great Lakes region.

Bird Bath Raft Review

I bought a very nice bird bath for my birds--and no bird would touch it. I tried to figure it out and the only problem I could see was the depth of the bowl might make the water too deep. So I tried putting less water in it, tried added a rock to make it more shallow. But still it got no use. I finally started googling words like bird bath liner. I hit on the raft and saw Amazon carried it and it wasn't $50 to try it. It does resolve the deep water issue really well. It can also make a bird bath out of any container no matter the depth. No more being limited to someone else's idea of a nice looking and effective bird bath. And, yes, it took the birds awhile to test the water so to speak but I've seen it being used and that makes me happy. Thanks, Amazon, for another great product at a great price.
