Newton Bird Bath Gray Review

I have had an earlier version of this birdbath for 15+ years. It's beginning to show its age, so I was pleased when I saw what I thought was the same product offered for a much reduced price.

I ordered 2. When I opened them however I found that there was no way to weight the birdbath with sand to keep it from tipping over. My old birdbath had a hole with a plastic plug in the bottom so sand or gravel could be used to add weight to the base. The new birdbath has only a hole in the bottom - no plug.

When I complained to the vendor (I did not order this thru Amazon.com) they replied that they have sold 100s of these items, and none had plugs and they have received no complaints. Be that as it may, for those of us who have owned the old version of the Newton birdbath - it is not the same and is missing a feature that even an $11 birdbath from the local hardware store has - the ability to easily weigh down the base.

I still like the design so I will keep the items and figure out a way to plug up that hole.
