I live in northern NJ and have tried just about every type and every brand of finch feeder on the market in an attempt to attract gold finches to our yard. This was originally recommended to me by a friend several years ago and I was able to purchase same at a local bird store. This feeder truly attracted so many finches that every perch would be filled and there would be additional finches waiting nearby for an empty perch. It is amazing how much the finches are attracted to this feeder.

I know that it is the feeder attracting the birds because our last two feeders eventually wore out. They wear out when the clear plastic tube gets weakened by sun exposure and they only last us about 2 seasons. In any event, I could no longer get these feeders at our local store and began substituting. Once again, I tried every type and brand of finch feeder, and even tried changing feed. But our finches were gone and had no interest in our yard anymore.

Finally, after trying countless other feeders and wasting a ton of money, I tried ordering the SK Rainbow Finch Feeder from Amazon. Sure enough, after about three weeks, our feeders are full of finches once again. I do not know what the secret is, but these feeders attract gold finches like no others! I suspect it is the rainbow-hued perches as that is really the only difference that I can see over similar feeders.

I only gave this item 4 stars because I wish the plastic tube would last more than two seasons so I do not have to rebuy this item. It needs some type of coating or chemical to withstand sun exposure for a longer basis. But that being said, these feeders are the most successful on the market!
