Tow behind spreader with poly hopper (125-pound Capacity)Brinly-Hardy Tow Series with Poly Hopper, 125-Pound Capacity Review
This is a great spreader for the price and you certainly cannot beat the capacity that this model offers. I agree with other posters that assembly takes a little bit of time and patience but once together it is rock solid. I have used this spreader now for two seasons and it has spread tons of fertilizer, lime, and seed in that time. It has also made it's rounds up and down the street to help out some neighbors. I would rate this product 5 stars but there are just two things to be aware of. The first is that the lever that opens the hopper is a bit hard to reach sometimes. It also has a tendency to slip back slightly which closes up the chute and reduces the application rate unless you are holding on to it. I find that I am holding the lever forward a majority of the time to keep spreading at my setting. The bolts here are not loose, but I may try tightening them and see if it solves this. The second issue is the transmission on the unit. The gears are plastic and if large chunks happen to clog the hopper, as it did in my case, they have the potential to strip out. So use caution to both screen for hard clumps and try not to overload the hopper. Either way, Brinly-Hardy customer service sent out a new transmission at no cost in less than a week. I appreciate that they stand behind their products and replaced this part no questions asked. I definitely recommend this product as well as their tow behind utility carts. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Brinly-Hardy Tow Series with Poly Hopper, 125-Pound Capacity" are high quality item.
