I already have several of these feeders and decided to expand my "Buffet Tree", so I ordered a few more. I use them for all different seeds. One is filled with sunflower one with a chickadee mix... what I am saying, is they aren't just for peanuts.
The spiral perch, and the mesh construction, make it very easy for a wide variety of birds to use them. I have everything from Finches and Woodpeckers to Chickadees and Nuthatches. Even Cardinals use the feeders, which is unusual because they are ground feeders.
They are very solidly built and aren't easy for the squirrels to eat from, so they pretty much ignore them. I have a few industrious Raccoons who try to eat from them but because the tops lock in place, they don't have much luck either.
