I purchased three of these, and would have purchased a fourth, but they had limited inventory available. I have used the three to hang two different sizes of bird feeders and one feeder sock in both mesquite trees and pine trees. The hook works very well in both types of trees and on the three different types of feeders. I think it makes it easier to remove and replace the feeder from the tree, and therefore, more likely the feeder will be refilled when it becomes empty.
