Glass bottles break--unfortunately. This style feeder from Best Hummingbird Feeder is my all-time favorite. I've been feeding the hummers for more than 25 years and have gone through a myriad of different style feeders and this is by far the best. I suppose that the manufacturer could use a plastic bottle but glass cleans up better and easier than unbreakable plastic. It also doesn't degrade from UV like plastic will--just don't drop it! And if you do, Amazon can get you a replacement at a good price.
