This is a pamphlet style booklet with lots of helpful details. Various types of squirrels + chipmunks in all regions of USA are covered: what they look like, eat, and how to enjoy them as yard visitors. I bought this after I'd put out a seed wreath for birds, only to see 3 squirrels working together to liberate the wreath where it was tied to branches, then carry it off a long distance away. What teamwork! Normally, they are so shy they race along behind fence tops and leap onto tree limbs if observed by humans, dogs, or large birds. But if you put out unsalted peanuts in shells, as well as fill bird feeders for birds, then charming squirrels will visit often! Since my dogs went to heaven, the local squirrels are no longer afraid to visit our yard. They will stay a long time, resting happily under our citrus trees, or burying nuts in our flower tubs. A few of them will sit up and beg when I work on the pool, letting me know they need more nuts! I have 2 Lodge style bird feeders from Amazon.com, which allow the squirrels to hang onto the fence with their back feet and tail, then hold the edges of the feeder with their front paws. Small songbirds chirp to goad the squirrels into letting waiting birds perch on the feeders -- which are, obviously, meant for them. Any seeds that fall are completely consumed by ground feeding birds, so there is no waste or mess.
