I've had this suet feeder for over a year now and it's still in great shape. No rusting or anything from being exposed to the weather overtime. I got it because you can put 4 suet cakes in it which helps attract different birds to it. If you really want to attract woodpeckers this would be a great addition to your yard. I have 3 red-bellied woodpeckers that come to my yard on a daily basis to feed from it. I think another reason this suet feeder is great is the size. It's big enough for woodpeckers to cling to it and eat comfortably from it at different angles. Also it's very stable (doesn't move around a lot) compared to the suet feeders that dangle from single chain. I would definitely recommend this product! :)

From my observation suet feeders are great at attracting mocking birds, catbirds, thrashers, blue jays, variety of blackbirds, and woodpeckers. I live on the east coast and these are the kind of birds that generally eat from my suet feeders.
