There is no question in my mind that this is the most effective baffle I have ever used over a bird feeder. Every other one I have ever owned has been defeated at some time or another by some innovative squirrel. I have even hung two and in frustration at times, three baffles all together, just to see if I could find a solution to the relentless look of a squirrel hanging all over my feeder. All combination's by me have at some time or another failed. The squirrels are just amazing at times. Ya gotta admire them.

Respectful of the little buggers as I am, I still am bound and determined to defeat them, thoroughly. They not only scare away all the birds that would normally be feeding, but eat up a lot of expensive seed, and even damage the feeder. I came upon this Mandarin baffle locally completely by accident. It cost a little more than it did here on Amazon, but I was impressed immediately with its slope and size. Quite simply this baffle works very well for its just so steep. Most squirrels just rest a couple of paws on it several times and then retreat. The ones that venture further either give up before falling, or just go flying off it. It's very steep, nothing really at all for them to grip on it, and over all very effective. So far with about 5 weeks of use behind it now, I have not seen a single squirrel defeat it. The other reviewer here that stated that the feeder should be hung very close underneath is correct. Hang it too low, and the squirrels will sometimes manage to grab onto the feeder as they fall. Its one darn good baffle to be sure. My only problem with this model is my problem with all baffles, the cost. Effective as this baby is, its still outrageously priced, and there seems to be no real bargain on it anywhere online. Amazon really is your best bet. The only other thing I would offer of consideration is that for about $12 more you can pick up the Squirrel Buster Classic feeder which is an excellent feeder that deters squirrels with a weight system. I own two and they are the best defense available against squirrels in a feeder design. It's really up to the buyer which is the better idea/bargain for you. I just thought I would mention it should you be in the market for a new feeder, and a real good one that is squirrel proof. If you are already satisfied with your present feeders and they are in good shape, but under attack by the pesky varmints, I highly recommend this Mandarin baffle. As just a deterrent, they don't come any more effective in my experience...
