I bought this mainly for the small pouring flange on the front. I have several thistle feeders with two inch tops and cups or other scoops would just dump thistle outside the feeder. I used to use large plastic drink cups and squeeze then shut at the top to narrow the pouring opening. After a while the cups would crack and sometimes I would catch my skin between the cracks. With the small pouring flange I can easily get the thistle inside the feeder with little over spill. The solid plastic construction helps in scooping seeds or cat food out of the bags.
