Packaging (from Amazon) was kind of strange, in that everything was loose in a big box, and only the ornamental bird was protected with bubble wrap, but nothing arrived damaged, so I guess I can't complain. The clamp holds very tightly to my deck, and there is also a hole for a screw, if you want to screw it into the deck for added security. Inside the 4-inch-long black section that slides down the pole was a 4-inch-long white plastic tube. I had to pop out that tube, in order to get the arm to slide down. Not sure why that extra tube is there. Maybe, in some cases, you need to keep that tube in place for a good fit. The wing nuts hold the arms very securely. It's good looking, solidly constructed, and does the job of holding two bird feeders. Now I'm getting the single-arm version for a suet feeder.
