We have six bird feeders in our yard of various types. This feeder is one of the most popular with the birds in my yard. I believe this is because many of these birds prefer thistle, because the thistle is easy for them to get through the holes, and because there is a lot of screen area so a dozen or more birds can feed on it at once. This unit is well built, fairly easy to clean, and should last a long time. The down side is that as the feed level drops, so does the number of birds that can feed at once. An even bigger disadvantage is that Nyger thistle is not cheap, something I think about when I fill this up every week or two. (By the way, I also have the black oil sunflower seed version of this feeder which is just as well built but is not very popular with the birds in my yard, probably because it is difficult for them to get the seed through the holes.)
